고은사진미술관을 운영하는 고은문화재단은 ㈜동일고무벨트 창업주 김도근 회장이 1990년 설립한 고촌장학재단의 정신을 계승하여, 문화예술 분야로 활동 영역을 확장한 재단이다. 고은사진미술관은 수도권에 편중된 문화예술 인프라를 부산 및 경남 지역에 구축하고, 지역민들에게 다양한 문화예술 체험의 기회를 제공하고자 2007년에 건립된 지방 최초의 사진 전문 미술관이다. 사진 아카이브를 구축하고 국내외 수준 높은 사진 전시를 기획하며, 창의적이고 미래지향적인 신진 작가를 발굴·지원하고 있다. 고은사진미술관은 한불수교 140주년을 맞아 프랑스 사진가 띠에리 아르두앵(Thierry Ardouin)의 ⟪Seed Stories⟫를 선보인다. 이번 전시에서는 현미경 사진(mircrophotography) 기법을 활용해 씨앗을 하나의 '초상'으로 제시하는 87점의 작품을 만나볼 수 있다. 그중에는 한국을 대표하는 김치의 주재료인 배추, 부산을 떠올리게 하는 토마토(대저), 대파(기장)이 씨앗을 촬영한 3점이 포함되어 있어 문화적 맥락을 더한다.

Goeun Museum of Photography is dedicated to building a photographic archive, organizing high-quality exhibitions by both Korean and international artists, and discovering and supporting emerging artists with creative and forward-looking practices. Marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, the museum presents Seed Stories by French photographer Thierry Ardouin.
